This product was received from Amazon for review and while it may look like any other Smoke Alarm out in the market this particular model boasts a 10 year battery life. 10 years is a long time and I really hope that it lasts that long to offset the little higher than normal cost for a Smoke Alarm. Most other aspects were however tested and it passed okay. Construction is tamper proof which is good thing and this is a use and throw item. Once the lifetime of 10 years has passed and it starts to chirp you will have to throw this away.
There was some rattle observed in the battery pack when I cut out the blister pack but after installing the battery into the designated slot the rattle stopped. - I think this was intended by design. The mounting bracket shipped with the product for review was obviously for a different product as it had markings "CAUTION: Turn off power before removing this alarm". The mounting bracket had no issues in holding the smoke alarm but merely wrong markings. I am sure the manufacturer would have noticed this by now and ship the correct mounting brackets.
The test/Mute switch was tested and the audible alarm was loud and sharp which could be heard all around the house. The Smoke Alarm also flashes RED LED every so often just to indicate it's functioning. The Manufacturer suggests to test this smoke Alarm once a week but you know most customers will never do that. However the RED LED blinking does give some peace of mind that this is still alive.
To be fair I am rating this with 3 stars (As it is OKAY Product) as I cannot be sure how long the battery will last. It comes with 10 year limited warranty wherein you could contact the manufacturer for a replacement if the battery were to fail within its lifetime.
9 years from now if I find the battery is still holding power I will give full 5 stars!
