Kichler Lighting 12391WH30 Task Work 10-Inch LED Undercabinet Fixture, White Finish

Kichler Lighting 12391WH30 Task Work 10-Inch LED Undercabinet Fixture, White Finish

This Kichler Lighting 12391WH30 Task Work 10-Inch LED Undercabinet Fixture, White Finish was received from Amazon for review and I have been using it for past few days and here are my observations.

PROS
  • Slim profile and bright light source.
  • The light output is provided by 3 Bright LEDs which are equivalent to 'warm-white' color about the same as a regular incandescent bulbs in the 'warm-white' color. This LED color output is perfect for my needs.
  • The package includes all screws and cable ties to securely mount this under cabinet in kitchen or showcase.
  • The Aluminum enclosure acts as an excellent heat-sink which will keep the LEDs cool and increase the longevity of the product.
  • Can be potentially 'daisy chained' with multiple similar type of under-cabinet fixtures with one common On/OFF switch as it has provisions for it.

CONS
  • The AC power cord is less than 3 foot long, so the first fixture needs to be close to an AC outlet.
  • Proper neat cable dressing can be problematic as the included AC power cord is too short for most needs.
  • The ON/OFF switch is located very close to the LED light fixture and that creates problem under-cabinet wiring in most cases as you have to open the cabinet to switch ON the Light fixture.
  • The LED Driver electronics emits 60Hz annoying 'hum' noise that can reverberate especially if mounted on wooden cabinets.
  • The LED Driver electronics is poorly isolated by mere 'plastic' sheet and can cause shock or fire hazard in moist or wet conditions.
  • Relatively Expensive for mere '3-LED' enclosure compared with other LED lighting alternatives.

TIP:
For electrically oriented persons you can completely eliminate 'hum' noise by providing your own DC power for the LEDs. I ended up removing the LED driver electronics (Which will void your warranty) which I found 'noisy' by design and provided my own regulated 6v DC power source for the 3 LEDs. This modification not only eradicated the annoying hum noise that it generated before but also safeguarded the light fixture from future shock and fire hazard as the power source now was outside the light fixture and I could route the 'low-voltage' DC power cord much easily under the cabinet where I wanted to mount it.

Bottom-line:
All is good except for the price which is too steep for the product if you can ignore the slight 'hum noise' that it creates. The LED color output is perfect, It is bright and will last long due to excellent aluminum enclosure.

2 stars! for the current price and annoyance noted above. 3 stars! product otherwise. Thanks for reading my review. Hope it proves useful to you. Cheers!
