These pair of D-Link Wireless Day/Night Cloud Network Camera with Remote Viewing model number DCS-932L are decent set for the current price that it is sold for on Amazon. In my humble opinion it has excellent value for what it does when it comes to delivering instant email notification and remote viewing capacities.
Setting them up for wireless connectivity initially I had issues with the 'WPS' button function. The WPS button function did not work correctly with my old AT&T gateway router. After couple of attempts and not going anywhere I assumed that it was most likely my router so I ended up hooking them up directly using Ethernet cable. I upgraded the Camera firmware and that allowed me to setup the WiFi SSID and other WiFi parameters. Once initial 'WiFi' was setup correctly (after firmware update), accessing them via wireless was possible with my AT&T gateway router and could monitor the site very well. BTW, The Camera has it's own WEB user interface that allows you to configure motion detection, sound detection and setup email alerts. You do not need an app running constantly for that. Windows application and other apps are available for novice users but not necessary for the cameras to function.
These cameras also has features to upload pictures to a FTP server of your choice. In my opinion 'Email alert' feature is the best and very well implemented. Once it detects there is something changed in the monitored areas it will automatically email you 3 pictures before and 3 pictures after a motion is detected to your email address of your choice instantly. You can also monitor live video over the internet from anywhere in the world using a web browser with Java capability or ActiveX. Alternatively, You could also sign up with 'D-Link' and use their Android or IOS app for remote monitoring for free which is as told before is purely optional.
Having said, There are some limitations you need to be aware of. One such limitation for the model number DCS-932L is the inability to pan and tilt. This severely hampers the field of view where the camera gets mounted. Since you cannot constantly change the position once permanently mounted in this model, purchasing a newer & improved model which has 'tilt and pan' features would be a better choice. BTW, D-Link does make D-Link Wireless Pan & Tilt Day/Night Network Surveillance Camera Model(DCS-5009L) which in my opinion would be a better choice.
Also, These cameras have four 'IR' LEDs for night-vision capabilities that can interfere especially when installed behind a glass like surfaces. So if you are planning on monitoring at night using these pair of cameras my suggestion would be not to place these behind a glass window. Having said, Daylight monitoring works fine behind the glass windows but still much better view when not mounted behind a glass window.
Bottom-line, These pair of DCS-932L otherwise works fine (Once you overcome the WiFi hurdle) and provides peace of mind knowing that you can monitor your home remotely without incurring any additional monthly charges that most security surveillance companies charges you these days.
Overall decent set of Day/Night Security cameras OKAY product 3 stars!
