TP-LINK TL-WDN4800 Dual Band Wireless card was attempted on a desktop PC running Windows 7 and I am pleased to report that this tiny little PCIe card (also has low profile bracket option) worked fine right out of the box and connected to both my Wireless G (2.4GHz) and Wireless N (both 2.4Ghz & 5GHz) routers in my house and maintained good connection and never missed a beat especially in the 2.4Ghz band. I found out that you can attain 450Mbps only using 5Ghz band (Duh) but the router also must be 450Mps capable using "TURBO" option. As you may already know that the 5Ghz band is not suitable for great distances and this card also was no exception to that rule. It did however see the Wireless N router that was seen advertising '450Mbps' speeds but never could connect at that speed initially. It kept on dropping down to about 150Mbps or sometimes negotiated at 270Mbps max.
The antennae included works okay for more common 2.4Ghz routers but if you really are having fringe reception with the included antennae especially in the 5GHZ band I found that if you extend the antennae using additional external antenna then you can maintain sustained speeds of 450Mbps with a suitable router that supports that speed.
If you do have a desktop (It is starting to become a rare now-a-days) which does not have access to wired Ethernet connection (Which seems even more rare) then this card might just work. In other words this card is not for everyone. But if you are one of those people who has desktop PCs without wired connections and got frustrated with those tiny USB based NICs and happen to have a free PCIe slot on your desktop this might be a perfect solution.
